North Abington Residence

Waverly Township, PA
The goal of this project was to transform a modest farmhouse into a modern sanctuary that celebrates its agrarian roots while embracing contemporary, modern design.

Designed to dissolve the boundaries between inside and out, the residence welcomes natural light through large, operable windows that blur the line between the home and its serene surroundings. Expansive views and fresh air become part of the living experience, anchoring the interiors in nature and creating a sense of calm continuity throughout the space.

Timeless materials were preserved and elevated through the addition of Corten steel accents, a standing seam metal roof, and minimal glass railings, which together lend a sculptural clarity to the home’s silhouette. The shake was painted a cool grey, its understated tone blending seamlessly into the landscape and maintaining the farmhouse’s innate modesty.

Inside, the renovation strikes a careful balance between old and new. Existing textures and finishes were thoughtfully considered, guiding the selection of complementary materials that pay tribute to the home’s heritage while enhancing its modern function. Clean lines, natural surfaces, and soft tones work in harmony to create spaces that feel both rooted and refreshed.
