As the first home in Northeast Pennsylvania to earn LEED for Homes certification, care was take to ensure it was sustainable, functional, low-maintenance, and practical for lakeside living in the higher elevations while making the most of its spectacular natural surroundings. Expansive windows and outdoor living areas frame views of the water, creating a dynamic relationship between interior spaces and the ever-changing beauty of the lake.
At the core of the project is a commitment to sustainability. A geothermal heat pump fuels the in-floor radiant heating system, air conditioning, and hot water, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and significantly cutting utility costs. Additional green features include Superior Wall foundations, high-performance cellulose insulation, LED lighting, and an On-Demand Structured Plumbing system that conserves both water and energy.
Every material was chosen with sustainability and durability in mind. Bamboo flooring offers a renewable alternative to traditional hardwoods. Zero-VOC paints contribute to indoor air quality, and the home’s palette reflects the muted, earthy tones of the surrounding landscape. The result is a site-responsive home that feels as though it has always belonged.
